siegenthaler
Hi This weekend, the HD of my backup server (G3, 9.2.2, Retrospect 5.0.238) crashed completely. Disk Warrior was able to save some files, but the catalog file is damaged (error - 24205 chunk file damaged during save). I have an older catalog from august, but that means I have to recatalog 4 tapes (each 12GB). I tried it, but it is so awfully slow, about 3MB/min. Like that, it will take weeks to recatalog the 4 tapes!! Is it normal that recatalog is so slow? I normally get speeds of 20 to 60MB when copying and comparing over the network. Any ideas what I could do? I started a new backup set for the moment, but this means I have no real backup for the last two months or so. And I have to do an "initial" backup for all the computers again, which will use a lot of tape space (and time). Thanks, Tina
natew
Hi One of the catalog rebuild options is "update existing catalog". This will allow you to recatalog from wherever your current catalog left off. Then you can continue using that backup set Nate
