donmontalvo
i have a client (service bureau - all servers are xserve/xraid - trunked gigabit backbone) who needs an automatic archiving system. the plan is to give the client a "hot folder" where they can drop jobs to be archived. i need a script that will take whatever is put into that folder, archive it to tape, and remove from the original folder. the hot folder would reside on one volume...the archive would be either to another raid (which would be backed up to tape) or directly to tape. restoring archived data would be our responsiblity. i wanted to see if anyone on this forum is doing this with retrospect? thanks, don don montalvo, nyc
natew
Hi The Archive fucntion in Retrospect would work or you can do a duplicate with the move option enabled. In either case make sure you define only the hot folder as the source of the script. Thanks Nate

donmontalvo
sorry for the late followup...turned out the problem was not fixed. empty source folders were not being properly deleted after the move/verification. i took the thread over to the retro list. sorry. anyway, the "Don't delete empty folder after moving files" option (in retrospect server 6.0.204) seems to have been changed to "Delete files after copying and verifying" (in retrospect server 6.0.212). can anyone confirm if EMPTY FOLDERS are now properly deleted? thanks, don
