Mistie
We backup each day with Retrospect and every once in a while it will backup all the files instead of just the changed files, which takes about 2 hours and several disks. Everything is the same as usual as far as settings. Does anyone else have this problem and if so what can you tell me to help. M
natew
Hi Retrospect will only do this when something makes all the files appear as changed. There are a lot of things that can cause this to happen. What OS and Retrospect version are you using? Where are these files stored? Thanks Nate
Mistie
We are using Retrospect version 6.5.350 and Windows 98. Thank you for any help you can provide! S
natew
Hi Where are the files stored? Are they on a local disk or on a network share? Thanks Nate
Mistie
They are stored on CD-R's. Thanks........
natew
Hi I'm sorry for not being clear. I assume you are backing up files _to_ CD-Rs is that correct? Where is the source data stored? Or is the source data actually on CD-Rs? Thanks Nate
Mistie
Yes, the data is backed up to CD-R's. The source data is on a network drive.
natew
Hi The source data is on a network drive? That explains just about everything. Some network shares can change modify date times very slightly (one second or so). As a result Retrospect sees all the files as changed and backs them up again. Is there any way you can use Retrospect client to backup the network share? What OS is the network share running? Thanks Nate
Mistie
Oh, thank you so much, NateW! That make perfect sense......... we haven't had the problems since around the time we started chatting........ but thank you very much that explains all. Cheers, Sorrento
