anatomyman
Is it possible to Restore an SQL database to a different/new location? We seem to have hit a snag when trying to restore a backup of an SQL database; Retrospect seems to want to restore it to the exact original location on the SQL server, which of course would overwrite the newer, current SQL database. (We don't want to do that; we need to restore an older backup of the database in order to recover some information deleted from the database.) Does the use of the Options "Use custom path" and "Rename the database" allow us to Restore and create a new database on the SQL server? Thanks for any help you might be able to give - Dr. Jim Neill SUNY Downstate Medical Center
natew
Hi I just ran a test restore here using the "Retore to a new name" option. It created a new database with the name I specified and left the original alone as far as I can tell. As long as you backup ahead of time you'll be safe. Thanks Nate
