Has anyone got a Ricoh 7060S (or 70x0x) to work with Mac OS X and Retrospect 5.0?

I'm using a supported SCSI card (Initio Bluenote, with latest firmware). The other SCSI devices show up.

It works (in Retrospect) under Mac OS 9.2.

The drive is in the knowledgebase as supported (for CDR only).

The drive show up in Apple System profiler as Apple disc burning: supported

The Drive shows up in Retrospect, but is marked ([locked] incompatible)

There is no disc in the drive, and under Mac OS X I can't find any way to open the tray! Under Mac OS 9 the little button on the front does its job, but is ignored under Mac OS X. Pressing (Eject) in Retrospect does nothing. (I can power cycle the drive and make it open and close that way, but since it's SCSI I'm not really very happy about that.)

If I do force a disc into the system, Retrospect still says it is incompatible.

BTW, anyone know how to open the tray from the Mac OS X terminal? hdiutil and umount don't want to work, since there is no /dev entry, which in turn is because there is no disc in the drive. Of course the Eject key does nothing, except open the internal CD drive.

So, why is Retrospect (Express) marking the drive as 'incompatible'? (There is nothing untoward in the log)
