sdube
Hi, Could someone explains to me what is the use of the "journal" options for SQL server? What I am doing right now is doing a full backup every month and differential backups every day. Is the journal backup useful? Does the journal backup also backups structural changes on the server? If not, then I might only use the differential backup... Thank you.
Eublet
I wouldn't go that long doing nothing but differentials. A week tops is my thought, with every day being ideal. SQL restores using diffs and log-truncates can be tricky if they're strung out to long, and it can take a considerable amount of time to roll back a month of transactions.
