Guest
Is it possible to have Retrospect perform a backup similar to a recycle backup, however instead of rewriting the existing backup set with a new copy of the data, just start with the latest backed up version of the files and discard the previous incremental backups? What I'd like to do is have our network clients backed up weekly to our server, and on a monthly basis reset the backup sets so that only the last incremental backup is saved, and the next months incremental backups be appended to those sets. Is this possible? Thanks, Steven Huey
SteveYates
I'm not that familiar with Retrospect yet, but couldn't you simply start a new backup tape set, saving the one you want to keep? Then alternate sets every month? - Steve Yates - Zenocide: the killing of ancient philosophers. / Taglines by Taglinator 2.5 - www.srtware.com /
Guest
I'm no Retrospect pro either - however I think what you are suggesting is similar to a recycle backup. What we're trying to avoid is performing a totally new backup at the beginning of each month, and yet somehow restrict the size of the backup sets so that they don't grow to be too large. - Steve
