Sharing Violation when backup Quickbooks Enterprise 2010 qbw file

I am getting a "can't read, error -1020 ( sharing violation)" when backing up our quickbooks 2010 enterprise QBW file. I am sure that the error is because someone has left themselves logged into the company file overnight while the backup is running. I am new to Retrospect (this worked just fine for years under Backup Exec on same server) so I am sure that there is some configuration that I don't have setup that will allow for me to backup this very important file.

Hi Rob,

This error usually shows up because the file is open/ in use. You should make sure all your users are logged out or you can also use the "Open file backup" add-on.

Thanks, I figured that is what it is. Backup Exec which was running on this server was able to backup the open file. Are you saying that there is no way for Retrospect to backup open files?

As an alternative, just stop QuickBook during the backup window.

Thanks for the help. That is exactly what I did on Friday. I setup up a scheduled job to stop and restart the "QuickBooksDB20" service before the backup runs and now I have a good backup on my Windows server.

 

Now to work on my why my Mac machines aren't waking on LAN, but that is another thread
