systechguy
I have a conflict with Retrospect 6.0 (Server on Windows 2003, client on XP machines) and a certain software application that my company uses and I am not sure how to resolve this: Recently, my organization needed an upgrade to this software application (KLAS) that creates a virtual network connection off of the existing NIC and uses an OPEN VPN connection to connect to their server database somewhere in California. The problem is when I installed this upgrade, all computers with this upgrade are now not being backed up by Retrospect 6.0. When I try to test or add the client I receive the error -530 message. Here is an example of the Network connection for one of the machines: Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Intel® PRO/100 VE Network Connection Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : XXXXXXX Dhcp Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 10.3.0.221 Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 10.3.0.254 DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 10.3.0.145 10.3.0.143 Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection 2: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : TAP-Win32 Adapter V8 Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : XXXXXX Dhcp Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.101.150 Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.252 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : :\Documents and Settings\Administrator.DLS> The first LAC is our internal network. The second is the virtual connection that connects through OPENVPN. When I disable this connection, the server sees the client without a problem, however, the IP address for this virtual connection is dynamically allocated, so I can't just add this specific address to the client list. I would like to fix this issue on my end rather than contact the KAS tech's to change anything. If I can address this issue on the REtrospect Server, that would be preferable. Any suggestions that anyone can give me would be appreciated.
blm14
When you are adding your machines to your client list, are you adding them by IP ADDRESS (ie: 10.3.0.221) or are you adding them by hostname (ie: endusercomp1.hostname.com which resolves to 10.3.0.221 in DNS)? You _may_ need to add some static routes somewhere using "route" but I could be wrong.
systechguy
Under the "piton name service" I have the option of finding clients via "Direct", "Multicast", or "Subnet Broadcast". The current selection is "Subnet Broadcast". So, I would assume it is doing it via IP address.
