steffi
I installed Retrospect roughly the same time I upgraded to 10.5.7 and I notice that occasionally the fan is one a lot more on my UMBP than it use to be. When I look in Activity Monitor I see RetroEngine at the top in terms of CPU time. So, are there any housekeeping tasks that RetroEngine carries out whilst it's not running a scheduled backup? It's very possible this spike I'm seeing is more related to 10.5.7. I tried early to Verify and Browse snapshots and I had force quit the front end so that fact that RetroEngine is working might be related to that. Also I noticed fs_usage was showing RetroEngine at work also. It's not clear how if you Browse or Verify but want to cancel how do so because launchctl stop at the commandline doesn't appear to have any affect. Mayoff
Spikes are expected. If the spike never drops, then the engine may have crashed. Check the OS X console for crash logs.
