Backup script not completing

Hi guys,

I've had to roll back to version 6 as 8 cant be trusted yet.

But now i'm having issues with 6!!!

Our script consists of 5 different directories. For some strange reason it only does the first directory and doesn't even attempt to run the other 4.

Can anyone help with this issue?

Many thanks

Hi,

Basically its a folder that is on our Xserve RAID connected via Fibre Channel.

As you'll see from the log, it stops at Shared Files on Xserve RAID

Yep, just stops there.

I've had this happen before in the past, but cant remember how i got around it.

Retrospect returns to desktop and is no longer loaded. So it would appear to the administrator that the backup has run successfully.

Where are all the prefs for retrospect so i cant delete them all and start again?

Can anyone advise where the prefs are please in mac osx?

For Retrospect 6.x, the preferences files are in:

/Library/Preferences/Retrospect

The configuration preferences are in the file:

Retro.Config (6.0)

The autorun scheduler preferences are in the file:

retrorunfile

The "retrorunfile" file is auto-regenerated if it is not present when Retrospect starts, so it's ok to remove that file when Retrospect is not running. Occasionally it gets corrupted and can prevent autolaunch.

The config file can be moved to your desktop so that Retrospect won't see it on launch, and you can then try to enter new stuff. However, all of your backup script parameters, schedules, license code, etc., are in the config file, and you will lose them if that file has to be recreated.

I've used Retrospect since 1992 (version 2.0) and never have had a case where the config file has gotten corrupted. However, the retrorunfile becomes corrupted about once a month, and we have had that problem ever since moving to Retrospect 6.0 many years ago. I don't expect that it will ever be fixed in Retrospect 6.

On the other hand, we seem to experience corruption about once a year, perhaps due to the marginal quality of electrical service out here at the far end of the power grid. When the corruption happens, it can cause a variety of odd behaviors.

I make sure that this file is backed up regularly to avoid having to recreate all our scripts and lists when the file goes south.
