double layer?

Retrospect does not seem to be using my double layer DVDs as double layer! Is Retrospect supposed to be able to use DL DVDs?

It should, if yours is a supported device. I can't seem to find your device in the database of supported devices or in the RDU version history of added device support:

Interesting because that isn't the same model that you reported in your initial post. Whatever.

Have you perhaps done a manual configuration? If so, that is preventing the (usually more optimal) parameters in the RDU from being used. Way to see if this is the problem is to quit Retrospect, move any .rdi (manual configuration) file in /Library/Preferences/Retrospect to your desktop (so Retrospect won't find it on launch, and so you can move it back without reconfiguring if this isn't the issue).

Also, what media are you trying? +R ? -R ?
