Whatever. Have you perhaps done a manual configuration? If so, that is preventing the (usually more optimal) parameters in the RDU from being used. Way to see if this is the problem is to quit Retrospect, move any .rdi (manual configuration) file in /Library/Preferences/Retrospect to your desktop (so Retrospect won't find it on launch, and so you can move it back without reconfiguring if this isn't the issue).
