cgtyoder
Using Retrospect Single Server 7.5.387, Hotfix 7.5.13.100 on Windows Server 2003 Std Ed, SP2, 1GB RAM. Last night I got this error whilst backing up the server: VssWSnapVolume: DoSnapshotSet failed, winerr -2147024882, error -1018 Using legacy methods to backup Windows system state. Volume Shadow Copy Services failed, error -1018 (not enough memory) Is Windows really running out of memory? I've got 1GB in the server and it's not doing much - it's a DC for a small office and runs DNS, but that's about it. Does the server need a reboot? Thanks for any pointers. Mayoff
Check your Windows Event log for errors that are reported at the same time as the -1018 error. Windows is reporting a failure when using the VSS Service. The event log will give more details.
cgtyoder
Windows reported being on memory, and the VSS service was shut down. I set the system page file size to be automatically managed, and rebooted - we'll see what happens.
