EWTHeckman
I'm running Retrospect on an OS X machine to a tape backup. It also backs up a Windows XP machine via Retrospect Client 7.1. Last night's daylight savings time change caused Retrospect to back up everything from the Windows machine which is wasting a lot of tape space. Is there a solution for this? twickland
This is due to the difference in the way that Windows treats the DST time change. Retrospect sees the file modification dates as having changed by one hour and marks the files for backup. Unfortunately there is no solution, other than living with the extra backups, or (as we do) using the time changes as the point to perform either a New Media or a Recycle backup. Having a Selector to exclude files whose creation/modification dates and times differ by exactly one hour would do the trick; however, you cannot create such a selector with the options currently available. (Such a capability has been requested for a future Retrospect version.)
