tomnibus
Perhaps someone here can instruct me. I have this Sony SDX-300 Tape drive within my loader. It's an AIT-1 Drive. It is supposed to be capable of backing up 25 native and 70GB compressed. However, I don't see how, within retrospect, to tell it that it can use hardware compression. There is an option for "software" compression and in the past that has screwed me by not backing up all the files. It says in the script setup that the software compression option would be disabled if the drive does hardware compression. Well, my hardware does to it so how to I tell the hardware to use hardware compression because right now i can see it's not.
AmyJ
Hardware compression is on by default when you create a Tape Backup Set. If you go to Configure > Backup Sets > Properties you will see on the Summary tab whether or not a given set has hardware compression enabled.
