CofeeCup
Hello, Retrospect Guru! I'm testing the process of restoring OS using Disaster Recovery CD. For example, I would like to restore the server system (Windows 2000 Server) after hdd crash. I boot from Disaster Recovery CD, install mini OS and now Retrospect is asking for backup set which is located (in this particular case) on external usb hard drive. The problem is that mini system doesn’t see USB device and I cannot make Retrospect grab data from external hdd! Of course, I could copy backup file to the internal hdd, put on the network (although backup could be pretty big, more then 50 Gb) or install full system, but I'm wondering if there is any way to use USB device to save time in this case? Retrospect 7.5. Thank you very much, CofeeCup
RonaldL
You will need to use advanced DR. Restart your system, don't boot from the DR CD, and it should load a more complete version of Windows. At this point, you should be able to see the external harddrive and proceed with the restore.
