sojay
This sucks.. getting gray hair from this program... Have never been able to make it work! I'm getting the error message "no disk storage devices found" If I go to configure, my internal drive is recognized on my powerbook G4, but when I 'execute' I get the error message. PLEASE help, I'm desperate to get this working. version 5.0.
natew
Hi Please post the entire line about your drive as listed in configure->devices-Device status in Retrospect. Thanks Nate
stenney
I've got a similar problem with a G4 desktop that has been backing up to a SCSI tape carousel. I'd like to move the backups to an external HD and retrospect can't see it. I get no backup devices found. I'm running Retrospect 5.0.238 and Mac OSX 10.3.9. natew
Hi _Please_ post information about your device. Otherwise there is nothing anyone can do for you. Also post info on your SCSI card - chances are it is unsupported in OSX 10.3 Nate
stenney
Thanks, Nate. The external device is a 200GB Maxtor One Touch drive on firewire. We already had Retrospect installed and it accesses the machines that it backs up across a network. As a result, I didn't install Retrospect Express. The SCSI is an Adaptec 29160, but I'm not expecting to use it for backups anymore. Retrospect doesn't have any problems accessing the carousel, but it comes up with write errors which could be that the mechanism is worn out. natew
Hi Adaptec cards can destroy data on the way to the tape device. Chances are this is why you are seeing write errors. Have you seen this tutorial about how to back up to hard disk? http://kb.dantz.com/article.asp?article=1005&p=2 Thanks Nate
stenney
It ran, thanks. Is there a 2 GB limit to the backup set size? It stopped with this message.
natew
Hi You need to format the disk as HFS+. Network disks have a 2 GB file size limit regardless of the format. Thanks nate
