lumiere
How can .DS_Store files be excluded from Restrospect Backups? I can't find any mention of them in any of the help guides. Thanks!
Lennart_T
Why do you want to exclude them? They are small. They are used by the Finder to keep track of where in the window you put the icons. You you need to restore without the .DS_Store file, you will just see a jumble of files in the Finder. I'm not certain what the precise intention of the above message was (given the typo) but there is _nothing_ wrong with excluding .DS_Store files. A folder that is Restored without such a file will open with that user's default Finder View Options. A simple Selector, based on file name, can exclude the files from Backup, or from Restore. What I meant was: Without the .DS_Store files the icon positions are not preserved. So when the user goes to the icon view, the files are not restored to their original position. Any file many be placed at any position, making them hard to find.
