Superloader 3 drive fail but can I temporarily replace it with a stand alone LTO tape drive and sense the bar codes?

My problem is that the Superloader 3 which has a barcode reader to identify which tapes it has in its drive, picker and magazines, has failed.   The internal LTO7HH drive is on its way back for repair.

However I have a stand alone LTO7HH.  I am wondering if using that instead of the Superloader 3 , will Retrospect be able to obtain the tape number from the tape and not the barcode reader?

The answer to this question ....it can read the tape/barcode number in the stand-alone deck, however, when you try to perform a backup to tape, it will ask for the tape, even though it is in the deck and displayed in Retrospect.  So, it doesn't work as such.
