toshy
In my daily backups, which go to different media sets - MonWedFri, TuesThursSat – I usually exclude Parallels Virtual Machines (PVMs) as they are so large. Crucial data from SQL databases on these is copied daily to other disks. But I want to make weekly backups of the whole PVM on a separate script. Can these backups be directed to the existing daily media sets or should they be stored in a new set on a different drive? The latter is obviously a more expensive option so if i can use the existing media sets it would be better. Would there be any problems in Restoring from sets if used for multiple scripts? twickland
There is no issue with using multiple scripts to back up to a media set, nor for subsequent restores. You might want to use separate media sets for convenience in restoring, but there is no need to do so simply because you will be using several scripts.
