kna
Hoi, I installed a trail of Retrospect 13 for Mac to test it if its worth upgrading (faster than Retrospect 11 ?). I setup a backup script but every time I run the script not only new or modified files are added to the backup, but also a bunch of unmodified files, every time te same files. See parts of the activity logs below. (as test I run the script 3 times in a row, without touching any file on the nas) The source is a Synology Nas with no indexing activated, so the file are not modified by the nas itselfs. When i backup with Retrospect 11 these file are not backing up over and over again. Is there a solution for this ? Or should I stay with Retrospect 11 ? ----- 16/06/16 18:18:53: Found: 53429 files, 7445 folders, 343,2 GB 16/06/16 18:18:54: Finished matching Backing up 3 files using block level incremental backup. 16/06/16 18:18:58: Copying: 7540 files (17,9 GB) and 0 hard links 16/06/16 18:25:36: Building Snapshot... 16/06/16 18:25:36: Checking 7.445 folders for ACLs or extended attributes 16/06/16 18:25:37: Finished copying 52 folders with ACLs or extended attributes 16/06/16 18:25:37: Copying Snapshot: 2 files (16,3 MB) 16/06/16 18:25:38: Snapshot stored, 16,3 MB ----- ----- 16/06/16 18:41:34: Found: 53429 files, 7445 folders, 343,2 GB 16/06/16 18:41:34: Finished matching Backing up 3 files using block level incremental backup. 16/06/16 18:41:38: Copying: 7540 files (17,9 GB) and 0 hard links 16/06/16 18:48:12: Building Snapshot... 16/06/16 18:48:12: Checking 7.445 folders for ACLs or extended attributes 16/06/16 18:48:13: Finished copying 52 folders with ACLs or extended attributes 16/06/16 18:48:13: Copying Snapshot: 2 files (16,3 MB) 16/06/16 18:48:14: Snapshot stored, 16,3 MB ----- ----- 16/06/16 18:58:03: Found: 53429 files, 7445 folders, 343,2 GB 16/06/16 18:58:04: Finished matching Backing up 3 files using block level incremental backup. 16/06/16 18:58:08: Copying: 7540 files (17,9 GB) and 0 hard links 16/06/16 19:04:40: Building Snapshot... 16/06/16 19:04:40: Checking 7.445 folders for ACLs or extended attributes 16/06/16 19:04:41: Finished copying 52 folders with ACLs or extended attributes 16/06/16 19:04:41: Copying Snapshot: 2 files (16,3 MB) 16/06/16 19:04:42: Snapshot stored, 16,3 MB -----
GrizzlyHippo
We are having exactly the same problem here. Moved from Retrospect 11 to 13 and the incremental backups are backing up un-modified files every day. In two months it has now filled our NAS drive (Drobo). This did not happen using the same scripts in Retrospect 11. There is a problem with Retrospect 13. Retrospect need to look into this and fix it urgently please. Tom.
