1533e05b-bad5-4c4f-8414-f3d9867b63a1
Is there any way to back up the latest version of SQL server with 7.7? When we were using SQL Server 2008 we installed the SQL Server 2005 compatibility components and were able to back it up. I don't think anything like that is available for 2012. Anyone? Thanks in advance Alex
Lennart_T
I would have the SQL server to create a database dump file and back up that file. I would not trust an old Retrospect to backup a server of a much later date.
1533e05b-bad5-4c4f-8414-f3d9867b63a1
that's exactly what I'm doing now (backup to disk with SQLCMD then copy the file to tape with retrospect). I would like to back up the DB directly with retrospect. I have the latest version of 7.7. With Dantz/EMC/Roxio/whoeverownsitnow track record of breaking the application with updates it will be a long time before I consider 8. Lennart_T
One of the new features with version 8 was compatibility with Windows server 2012, so you are out of luck with 7.7.

Lennart_T
It's the year that is important. Version 7.7 isn't updated for 2012 software.
