henry-in-florida
Something fails at the completion of the backup on a currently installed Retrospect version. Restarting the Engine has cleared this problem before. What seems to happen is that the running backup never completes- stick in the last step, sending email or the previous step- closing... What information is needed to troubleshoot this problem and how can I get some advice?
Lennart_T
"Completing backup" can sometimes take hours. Are you sure you are not just impatient?
henry-in-florida
"Completing backup" can sometimes take hours. Are you sure you are not just impatient? Very sure. 8 hours is too long. Also checked the console, there are numerous (2) previous crashes listed there.
Lennart_T
Very sure. 8 hours is too long. That depends on:The number of files involved. The speed of the "engine" computer. The speed of the "client" computer. The speed of the destination volume. For instance a USB disk is much slower than a built in disk. So is it a million file restore then 8 hours seems reasonable. If it's a 1,000 file restore then I agree with you. What does the system console say about the crashes?

Lennart_T
Right, I didn't notice you wrote "backup". Sorry. I can't find any log attached. What does the Retrospect console say the engine is doing? Building snapshot? How many files are there on the source volume in question? Maybe it's an error on the source volume?
