BryceFowler
Good morning, I'm having an issue with Retrospect Multi-Server backing up files/folders on one of my servers. The remote server has a few shared folders that we are backing up nightly, however, lately not all of them are being backed up. I've checked my exclusions and the folder path isn't listed, nor is there an exclusion that is close to the name of the folder. I also have gone ahead and created an entire new backup set and tried a full backup to the new set, but the folder still does not get backed up. I haven't seen any errors pop up in the backup nor any errors in my event logs. We are running Server 2008 R2 and Retrospect 7.7.620 Multi-Server. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Lennart_T
I also have gone ahead and created an entire new backup set and tried a full backup to the new set, but the folder still does not get backed up. Which selector did you use? "All files except cache files"? Or something you created yourself? Does the backup user have all the permissions needed? Such as domain administrator etc? (Check the manual)
BryceFowler
Thanks for the reply. I've tried a few of the selectors to see if that is the problem, as the script originally was selecting specific folders, but none of them seemed to backup one particular folder. The backup user has the permissions required as stated in the manual. I'm not quite sure where to go from here...
Lennart_T
Try a manual backup. You should be able to select which files to backup. Can you see the folder in question listed in Retrospect? Try running Windows' CHKDSK on the volume in question.
BryceFowler
I attempted a manual backup on the folder. Retrospect showed the folder, and I was able to navigate through it, however I could not select the folder. The CHKDSK didn't come back with any errors. Thanks again for your help. Lennart_T
That is really odd. Could you select another folder? Is this a "normal" folder that the user created or a "system" folder? Is it a temporary folder? Or a cache folder?
BryceFowler
Sorry for not replying sooner. Yes I can select any other folders that are on the server. The folder is a user created "normal" folder. Pretty baffled at this point.
Lennart_T
Pretty baffled at this point. That makes two of us. As this is a user-to-user forum, I suggest you open a support incident with Retrospect Support. http://www.retrospect.com/en/support
