willfurby
Retrospect Multi Server version 7.6.123 Driver Update and Hotfix, version 7.6.2.101 Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise SP2 I have a client with an issue. They use several USB drives; but, one of them gives the following error everytime it used: error -105 (unexpected end of data). There is not much info in the Roxio Support site. I have attempted to re-catalog and it failed. I have run chkdsk /r on the drive, it ran successfully, and then failed as soon as Retrospect started. Is there a way to solve this, or should we just get a new drive? Thanks. Edited March 29, 2011 by BrightSolutions
Lennart_T
If you use Windows Explorer to copy the files to another drive, what happens? (Does the Retrospect log tell you which file that issues the error? Then start with that file in Explorer.)

I can copy data to and from the drive; but, I have only copied small (<5MB) files. Here is the error message in Retrospect: + Normal backup using proactive at 3/28/2011 9:51 AM (Execution unit 1) Device trouble: "1-OffsiteC", error -105 (unexpected end of data) Device trouble: "1-OffsiteC", error -105 (unexpected end of data) Device trouble: "1-OffsiteC", error -105 (unexpected end of data) Device trouble: "1-OffsiteC", error -105 (unexpected end of data) Device trouble: "1-OffsiteC", error -105 (unexpected end of data) Device trouble: "1-OffsiteC", error -105 (unexpected end of data) 3/28/2011 9:52:06 AM: Execution stopped by operator Total duration: 00:00:37 Edited March 31, 2011 by BrightSolutions
Lennart_T
Can you do a "Recycle" backup? (That means: Do you have the backups elsewhere, so you can afford to lose the ones on that drive? ) If the problems come back, I would buy a new drive. We were trying to save the data; but, there is another drive with similar backups. Let me talk to my client and will give you an update. Thanks for your assistance. Here is what we ended up doing: Reformat the drive, forget and re-create the backup set in Retrospect. It has been working for several days now. Thanks, again.
