jabramsxx
Running 7.5 under w2k..on the local machine where Retrospect is located I sometimes get a -1017 error indicating the registry 'cant back up ' w/ insufficient permissionsl If I look at the event log, I see that right before that WinMgmt couldn't open the repository file. I've reset the winmgmt part of the registry. It backed it up after that, but not on a second pass. Anyone know what's up.
nekr0phage
Hi, Do you have Retrospect set to run as a specified user? You can find this option in Configure>Preferences>Security. Setting Retrospect to run as an Admin of some sort can help resolve a lot of 1017's.
jabramsxx
Thanks for the suggestion but that wasn't it. Apparently the registry was not happy. Running it through Registry Mechanic allowed Retrospect to back it up. I'm not sure what fix really did it though.
jabramsxx
Still a nagging issue. Is it possible that the error comes if the registry has not changed since the last backup?
nekr0phage
Hi, It doesn't matter if changes have actually been made to the registry or not. The registry will be backed up as part of the snapshot every time you perform a backup of the OS volume.
jabramsxx
Well, sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't.
