mbroom
Hello, To use a backup server with Retrospect Desktop (latest version) is installing the client software on the computer I want to backup necessary? I think the answer is "no" since there are other options when I click on "Sources," but if that is true what is the advantage of using a client? Also, I am assuming that the backup catalog should be located on the destination disk. Is that correct? Michael
waltr
hi m, Quote: what is the advantage of using a client? speed is one. also, you can backup the whole computer instead of just the shared files (unless of course you share the entire compter) you can backup over the internet, or across a subnet--all kinds of advantages really. however, they may not be for you. your situation should dictate how you implement the software. Quote: should be located on the destination disk. Is that correct? this really depends on the type of backup set you have decided on. for example, for "File" backups, yes, for "Removable Disk" backups, no.
