webspinner Posted January 13, 2006 Report Share Posted January 13, 2006 I have been using a Seagate Tapestor for about 2 years but recently I have been getting intermittent tape errors.. media is unavailable and error 102. This refers to a MAC problem but I am running XP SP2. It will sometimes give me this error comment in the middle of a backup session. It is USB port and I have switched to a different port but same occasional problem. Is it possible that the tape drive is dying and needs to be replaced?? nembot Posted January 23, 2006 Report Share Posted January 23, 2006 Hi, Yes it could be that the tape drive is dying but before you change the drive, please try a new usb cable and maybe a new usb card.Check that your usb driver is up to date as well.
