Suse Linux client does not handle special characters in filenames

Running Retrospect 7 on a Windows server with a Suse Linux client. Large numbers of filenames on this Suse host have the character ë in the filename (e with an umlaut). When backed up, these are not handled correctly by the indexing process and appear as ? characters. For this reason, they cannot be recovered.

 

Has anyone come across this issue and found a way to solve it ?

what character set are you using? i think you may need to add a line with the correct character set to the rcl file.

 

there is a similar post regarding this issue on a solaris box. i don't think there has been a resolution to his issue, but the clients are similar enough that you may get something out of it.
