error -102 (trouble communicating)

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have a Windows 2003 Server with an internal Sony 50GB/130GB SCSI Tape Drive. I have Retrospect Backup OEM Single Server version 6.5.350. I have a easyscript 5 day backup set configured but it is coming up with this error:

+ Normal backup using EasyScript Backup at 18/04/2005 10:00 PM (Execution unit 1)

To Backup Set Monday A...

- 18/04/2005 10:00:06 PM: Copying Network on Drive C (C:)

Trouble writing: "1-Monday A" (0), error -102 (trouble communicating)

19/04/2005 9:46:56 AM: Execution stopped by operator

Remaining: 16778 files, 4.9 GB

Completed: 0 files, zero KB

Performance: 0.0 MB/minute

Duration: 11:46:49 (00:00:42 idle/loading/preparing)

I can verify the media fine and erase tapes, it just will not backup.

Please help!

Thanks,

Jason

Make sure you have the 5.4 Retrospect Driver Update installed, you can check this under the Operations Log.

You can try going into Secret Preferences (Control-Alt-P-P), go under Execution and check Use NT SCSI Passthrough, relaunch Retrospect and try running some backups with this setting.

If problems persist, try changing SCSI cables/cards or try this device on another machine.
