Mayoff
Looks like a corrupt catalog file. You should perform a catalog rebuild. What Retrospect version is this?
Pete_Evans
Hi, Version 2.5, I also get the message when I click on the restore button "Retrospect HD needs to perform a maintenance operation", not sure if it's a related problem. thnx
Mayoff
Delete the .rbc file and re-open the Express HD software. This will start the rebuild of that .rbc file automatically
Pete_Evans
Thanks for the advice, this has got rid of that error, but given another - "Catalog File out of sync with Backup Set. To repair it, use Tools>Repair Catalog>Update existing Catalog File." Any ideas? cheers.
Mayoff
That error also means you have catalog corruption or problems. You may need to try the process again. Also, make sure you are running the most recent 2.5 version.
Retro76c
A solution to this would be of interest please (newbie here, so thanks in advance and especially for your patience). I get the error code below after having done a complete restoration. My question is this. How do I find the "Tools>Repair Catalog>Update existing Catalog File" function? Catalog File out of sync with Backup Set "YYYY". To repair it, use Tools>Repair Catalog>Update existing Catalog File. Thank you.
rhwalker
A solution to this would be of interest please (newbie here, so thanks in advance and especially for your patience). A more complete answer might be possible if you provided the version of Retrospect Express (x.x.x) that you are using and your Windows version. But see if this helps: I get the error code below after having done a complete restoration. My question is this. How do I find the "Tools>Repair Catalog>Update existing Catalog File" function? Catalog File out of sync with Backup Set "YYYY". To repair it, use Tools>Repair Catalog>Update existing Catalog File. The "Tools>Repair Catalog>Update existing Catalog File" notation is simply shorthand for: Use the Tools menu, choose Repair Catalog, select "Update existing Catalog File". Retro76c
Thanks for your reply. Windows XP Pro, Retrospect Express HD 2.5 in use. I was aware of what the error message refers to, but it appears that my version of Retrosepct Express does not provide for a menu system that allows me to follow the instructions. I've found a possible solution by following what MPDMike has done and will update later. It involves using a trial version of Retrospect 7.6 to rebuild my catalogue. Retro76c
Sorry, that should be Retrospect Express HD Version 2.1. I'll update to 2.5 first before recreating my catalog as I'm not sure that I won't do more damage with Retrospect 7.6.
