EnricoFe
It seems astonishing that I did all those backups for decades, bought tape and then external hard drives, paid for a safe deposit box to store backups off site, rotated backup tapes to that box and then when my old computer crashed, I can't restore working programs to my new computer. I thought I was doing everything right, but I am signed on to my new computer as the administrator, as I was on my old computer, but when I try to restore my C: drive from a very recent backup, I get the message, " Can't write, error -1017 (Insufficient permission" Both computers use Windows XP Professional. I am amazed and very discouraged. John Fritz at jfutures@umich.edu
Mayoff
What version of Retrospect? What are the exact steps you take for this restore attempt? Are you trying to restore the entire C: disk?
USANomad
I've been chasing a 1017 error for an entire week. Nothing seems to work. I'll be following your post. Good luck
