DrBoar
What is the encryption in trafic from client to server? I find documentation of different levels of encryption of the backup as such but not about intital traffic between client and server
Mayoff
The Engine doesn't send actual files to the Console, just the file names and list of files on a disk. No actual backup data is transmitted between the engine and the console. Either way, the communication between the engine and console is encrypted but I don't know anything beyond that. DrBoar
The files have to be moved over the network from the clients to the backupmedia, be it a local disk or a NAS. How is this done?
Mayoff
Client backup is not encrypted by default. You must turn on link encryption for this. Retro has worked this way for 20 years. If you want data encrypted between the client and a NAS device, then you must also encrypt the media set. DrBoar
Dear Mayhof I know that you have link encryption, but what kind? For the backup you have 128 bit, 256 DES bit I have not found any information on _how_ the link encryption works Thanks for the speedy reply
Mayoff
It uses the simple crypt encryption method.
