This error comes directly from the exchange server. Exchange thinks that the backup is still running even though the exchange server has told Retrospect the backup was completed correctly.

HrESEBackupInstanceEnd(0c7ff0fa4) -- Functions called in an invalid sequence. [Not sure if this is an issue or not]

This probably part of the problem.

What does the Windows event log report on the exchange server?
