Mayoff
This error comes directly from the exchange server. Exchange thinks that the backup is still running even though the exchange server has told Retrospect the backup was completed correctly. HrESEBackupInstanceEnd(0c7ff0fa4) -- Functions called in an invalid sequence. [Not sure if this is an issue or not] This probably part of the problem. What does the Windows event log report on the exchange server?

dwsteve
Apologies for being pushy but are there any suggestions of how I might progress this. Currently I am having to reboot the server in order to take a backup.
Mayoff
Nothing in Retrospect can be done to correct what is going on. The logs seem to show the Retrospect initiated backup is completed successfully but the exchange server is not releasing the database for future backups. The problem is happening at the exchange level.
vervegroup
I am getting the same error. Ihave SBS 2003 fully patched. I have to reboot the server to clear the db too. Maybe an iireset will do the trick. I will try.

Mayoff
Maybe an iireset will do the trick. I will try. And did that do anything? Have you tried 7.6.123?
vervegroup
iisreset did not help. Yes I have tried 7.6.123 to no avail
vervegroup
Another interesting fact. I can backup by mailbox no problem, it is only the storage groups that cause the error.
