rickdudeya
Every Back-up I attempt ends up in the same error: "Execution terminated unexpectedly, possibly due to a power failure or system crash". I am backing up onto a Maxtor 300GB external drive using Retrospect Pro version 7.0.326 with the latest driver. I seem to be backing up about 44.5 GB or 76 backup sets every time. When I come back into the room it looks like the computer crashed and restarted. What can I do to make this work?
natew
Hi This really sounds like a hardware or driver problem with USB devices. Do the windows event logs have any more details about the crash? How is the Maxtor drive connected to the machine? What other USB devices are you using? Thanks nate
rickdudeya
I am connected via firewire. Which log do you want me to look at and where can I find it?
michaeln
Hi, Windows Event Logs - Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer, check the App and Sys logs If you have the space, you may want to try backing up to the local drive and see if the same problems occur. If it works, then you know the problem is with the connection to the Maxtor Drive. If it fails, then you may want to look at the source volume you are backing up.
