bad backup set header

Recommended Posts

CONFIG: PowerMac G4/500DP, Mac OS 9.2.2, Retrospect 5.1.175 with driver update 4.3, Sony SDX-420C AIT1 drive.

One of our designers ended up with a corrupt Quark file the other day, so I tried to restore it from the previous night's backup. When I did, I got this error.

- 6/23/2004 11:18:34 AM: Restoring from $[*!s321,,14,+3]JSC…

$[40] Bad backup set header found (0xbd9fbd9f at 29,774,516).

$[40] File “JAcamptrailers.qxd” appears incomplete, path: “Junedata:Client Work:Jayco:JA40323CampTrl_4C:JAcamptrailers.qxd”.

I went back and reviewed the error log and found this error from the night before when Retrospect attempted to backup that file.

I was able to restore the file from the backup two nights earlier. Well, today I saw from my email report that she had some errors during the backup, so I went and checked them out and found these messages:

It's a different file this time, but strangely enough another Quark file, in amongst the set of other Jayco projects she's working on. I tried to open that file and it did open okay (I did a save-as with a different file name just as a preventative measure to make sure I've got two good working copies of the file). Does this indicate any thing to anybody? I'm going to update her Retrospect to 5.1.177, although I have no idea what the difference between .175 and .177 is... not sure if that'll be of any benefit, but I figure it won't hurt.

Anyone who can shed some light on what's going on here, I'd greatly appreciate it... these Jayco jobs are very complex to rebuild, so I'd like to avoid any data loss! smile.gif Thanks!
