robertdana
A laptop on my network has been reporting error -556 (backup client: network interface unavailable) both at scheduled backups and when I attempt to connect to the client manually. No problems with other clients. The only kb article about this is for the Mac version, and suggests using the "interfaces" button on the client configuration screen to troubleshoot. In my copy of Retrospect professional 6.5, I get a notification that a license for advanced networking is required to use that function. Checking the Retrospect client control panel on the laptop seems to show that all is well. Any ideas? Client is a Thinkpad T41 running XP Pro, server is a desktop running XP Pro. -Robert
AmyJ
Make sure you have the latest version of the Retrospect Client software installed: 6.5.136. This build addressed some issues with sleep and standby, which are common states for laptops.
robertdana
Yup, it's already running 6.5.136. I've seen those problems, and this one has a different error code. -Robert
