siegenthaler
Hi all I have Retrospect 5.0.238 running under 9.1. I'm backing up OS 9 as well as OS X clients. Until recently, this was absolutely no problem. However, Retrospect has started to crash ("The application Retrospect has unexpectedly quit" etc...) while backing up some OS X clients (all running 10.3); only 2 out of 5 OS X clients back up OK. I'm not sure, but it seems to me that the crashes occur when the OS X clients are disconnected from the network or go to sleep during backup. I don't understand why this suddenly started, when all worked fine some weeks ago. There were no major changes/updates. Normally I can get them to backup with the 3rd or 4th try, but it's rather inconvenient, because this means I have to check on the backup server several times a day, and if it has crashed, I usually have to do a "recatalog" first. Anyone else seen this? Any ideas? Thanks, Tina
AmyJ
It sounds like it may potentially be memory related. The system may be running out of resources. OS X volumes have 10's of thousands of more files then OS 9 systems. How much memory do you have? What else is running when the backup occurs? Do you see the same behavior with new backup sets?
