Cbarnhorst Posted April 5, 2004 Report Share Posted April 5, 2004 I have discovered the cause of frequent difficulties in using the optical drive configuration tool in Retrospect 6.5. Attempts to configure a DVD drive causes Retrospect to freeze. It is the Language Bar in Office. In cases where no sound cable is in use (Windows XP) to connect an optical drive to the sound connector on the motherboard, sound is carried over the IDE cable. Office's speech tool (the microphone icon on the task bar) apparently grabs this channel. Attempts to configure the optical drive for Retrospect 6.5 lock up Retrospect.
