chs0013
Maxtor OneTouch worked fine for about 6 months until recently I mysteriously get error message: "Scanning incomplete, error -1001 (unknown Windows OS error) Execution stopped by operator." This occurs approximately 1.5 minutes after pressing one touch button on maxtor hard drive. The backup appears to be working, same as usual, and then stops. I have tried removing and reinstalling the Dantz software, but the problem continues. Any suggestions? Sincerely, Charles
AmyJ
Do you know which drive is being scanned when the error occurs? Try running a disk utility on the drive in question - there may be system or drive problems not visible to the naked eye (or computer user). chs0013
Thank you for the courtesy of a reply. I believe it is scanning my c drive to make a backup copy for the new volume E (my maxtor external hard drive). It used to work fine and but recently stopped working for reasons unknown to me. chs0013
What is a disk utility?
AmyJ
A Disk Utility is a diagnostic program which looks for problems on a hard drive - and fixes them when possible. One of the most popular programs is Norton Utilies (or Norton SystemWorks) by the Symantec Corporation. There are other programs as well.
