Onstream ADR30 Firewire

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I use an OnStream ADR 30 firewire tape drive to Backup my systems. On thing that have bothered me is that nearly every time the backup should start it tells me that the tape is erased. Eject and put it back in and everything works fine. It doesn't care if I run the script manually or automatically the same problem happens.

Any suggestions?

Is this drive connected directly to a firewire port on the computer? Or is it plugged into a firewire hub or adapter?

If this is plugged into a hub, try connecting it directly to the computer.

If you are using an adapter on a computer without native Firewire, try the drive on a computer with native firewire if possible.

Try cleaning the tape heads and using a new tape.

Make sure your drive is using firmware version 1.09b or higher.

Use Software Update to ensure that you have all the latest updates for the OS.

How do you check to see what the firmware number is. It should be the latesed becouse it is a completly new drive. It's connected to the computer directly and newly bought. I have also problem where it tells me that the tape is damage. But take out the tape and wait a couple of second and put it back in and it works find.

Maybe I should have a new drive that is OK instead of this old one that seems to be broke.
