Manhattan Posted November 13, 2003 Report Share Posted November 13, 2003 Client OSX 10.2.6 Retrospect Client 5.0.540 Same Subnet as Server Server OSX 10.2.8 Retrospect Workgroup 5.0.205 Symtpom Retrospect Workgroup sees the client in Configure/Clients/Network/Mac OSX Select the client whose status is "Not Logged In" and click "Configure" Receive Error - Client Not Visible On The Network Tried adding by IP address but same result What's changed The client's hard drive had a different username and volume name. Removed the volume from Retrospect Workgoup with the "Forget" command. Uninstalled Retrospect client with the installer. Rebooted. Installed the application. Created Password. CallMeDave Posted November 14, 2003 Report Share Posted November 14, 2003 Do you have firewalls enabled on either machine? This would cause this, as the discovery of clients is done via UDP (which is not blocked by OS X's built-in firewall) but the IP packets are (which is why actual connection fails.
