chuckfee
We run a network monitoring system (big brother) on one of our linux boxes. BB generates zillions of tiny little files in it's operation and many of them have very short lifetimes. I'd like to have retrospect not back up the directory /home/bb/bbvar on this box. On the windows systems I can tell the client to skip certain directories with the client gui. I assume this is possible via the linux system as it seems there is a java gui part available. However, the system in question doesn't have any X or other graphics stuff installed (it's a server after all) Is there a way I can manually edit a config file or otherwise tell the retrospect client to not back up these directories? thanks. --chuck

Check out /etc/retroclient.excludes Just manually place the paths one per line that you would like to exclude. This is the file that actually gets changed when you run the client GUI. Then you'll just need to do /usr/local/dantz/client/retrocpl -exclude on, and you should be set. Hope this helps.
