gabrielle_NASA
Help! A client I have been backing up for years is now giving me the message below in my logs. The client thinks it has over 500GB that needs to be backed up. The client only has a total of 37GB disk space. This problem is causing me major grief. I can't find any mention of the problem on the website. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Not enough space for selected files. About 597.9 G more required. mcswgn
This sounds like the finder.dat problem. Is the client a windows machine? (You should give more info in your post, like client type and client and server versions, but this is such a common problem that I can probably guess.) Look at item number 5 in the following KB article: <http://www.dantz.com/index.php3?SCREEN=kbase&ACTION=KBASE&id=27638>
gabrielle_NASA
Thank you - I will try to remove any finder.dat files. Oddly enough though the client has been backing up successfully for a long time. The user used a mac many years ago, so I would think this problem would have occurred sooner. BTW, I run Retrospect Macintosh server software 5.0.238. It sounds like I should upgrade to 5.1, regardless. Thanks again!
