Mathew_Laughlin
A Retrospect Express version 5.6 for Windows CD was bundled with the hard drive I just bought. I installed the program on a computer running Windows XP for the home, and followed the instructions to create a bootable disaster recovery CD. - The process appeared to complete successfully. However, when I try to boot from the CD, I get an error message indicating that it is not bootable. - There is only one file on the resulting CD - "Restore HPNOTEBOOK.iso"...leading me to think that the error message is correct. - The BIOS on the PC HAVE been set to "Boot from CD ROM". 1) SHOULD I be able to create a bootable CD using version 5.6 for Windows? The options within the application indicate that I should be able to ... 2) Are there any common reasons for a Disaster Recovery CD to be created, but not bootable? kaikow
You need to burn the .iso file image to the CD, not copy the file to the CD. You can do this with software such as Nero 6. You cannot do this with the built-in Win XP software. Dantz has an article on this someplace at their web site. The "\Program Files\Dantz\Retrospect\Retrospect Express Read Me.htm" file contains instructions on how to burn an image with various software. Ditto for "\Program Files\Dantz\Retrospect\Documentation\Retrospect Read Me.htm" in REtrospect Pro 6.5.
