joykafka
We just changed our back up machine from Windows NT to 2000. I am able to see clients on our old NT machine but not on the new 2000 machine. I have run the Live Network Test using the machine name and each is found, with the correct address, but does not appear during the Multicast search. I am running Retro 5.1. AmyJ
Retrospect 5.1 for Windows does not support Windows 2000. The only supported OS's are Win 95/98/NT. Our current version is Retrospect 6.5, which supports all current versions of Windows (including 2000 and XP).
joykafka
All of the material I received with 5.1 states it works with Windows 2000 and how 5.0 did not. Any thoughts?
AmyJ
Quote: I have run the Live Network Test using the machine name and each is found, with the correct address, but does not appear during the Multicast search. Four possible reasons: 1. Server is in different subnet then clients 2. Firewall blocking port 497 3. Router (or other hardware/software) blocking UDP packets from being transmitted 4. Network and/or hardware problems (cables, NIC, drivers, etc.) Give the server and a client static IP addresses and connect them directly with a crossover cable to help isolate the problem.
