cmancini
I am using Retrospect MultiServer 6.5 for Windows and trying to add an OS X client (version 5.1.106). I add it by IP and enter the password for the client. This goes through, but then I get "error -501, client not activated." This computer was recently upgraded to OS X from OS 9.2.2. I did completely remove the classic client and reinstalled the OS X client several times. Nothing seems to work. I have never seen this error before, except on very old clients. AmyJ
To workaround this error, please rename the client computer you are attempting to login (System Preferences->Sharing->Computer Name). A shorter or longer name that is different from the current name should allow you to login this client computer.
cmancini
I tried changing the name, but that didn't work. Any other ideas? Cheryl
AmyJ
Now that the name is changed, try one more reinstallation. Uninstall / reboot / reinstall. Do a find to ensure there are no Retrospect files on the OS 9 partition (system) left over.
