bews
Just a quick question to make sure i understand everything properly When you do a recycle backup .. will it delete all the files on the tape?? For example.. if ive been backing up every monday onto one tape.. and it becomes full .. and i do a recyle backup .. will i lose all the data on that tape (as if id formatted the tape) and not be able to get any of that data back .. or will it just delete the oldest backup set on the tape?? is there anyway to set a backup so that it re-uses the tape and deletes the oldest backup set without a full delete? No. It is not possible to selectively delete files from a backup set in Retrospect. In regard to tape, linear devices can only do a short erase (erase the header) or a long erase (erase the entire tape).
