Hi again,

I am trying to make a bootable disaster recovery cd from the iso file on my hard drive. All I get is a copy of the .iso file on a cd. I am using 5.6.132 in XP home on a sony laptop. I use windows to burn the CD from Windows Explorer. Any suggestions.

XP comes with it's own built in CD burning software. However, you cannot burn our Disaster Recovery .ISO image with XP's built-in CD burning software.

Burning CD's in XP is exactly like using Adaptec Direct CD - XP formats the CD so files can be dragged to, or written to it directly. It does not allow for the creation of a CD based on the contents of the .iso image. In another words XP puts the .iso file onto the CD incorrectly.

Users who have XP must use a compatible version of burning software that came with their drive for use under XP. The Read Me in the Retrospect program folder will list the more common cd mastering software with instructions on how to create a CD from an image.
