geoffs747
I have recently bought a Maxtor firewire drive. I backed up my C and D drive using the Immediate Duplicate feature in Retrospect Express for Windows. All went well for the Backup. Now I want to Restore, I am asked to find an *.rbf or *.rbc file. Using Windows Explorer in all my hard drives, I can't find any files with these extentions. Using Recreate, I have the same problem. My Question: Where can I find these catalog files of Backup Set A. Thanks Geoff. I have a Sony 1.2G laptop running Windows XP. 512 memory, 20 Gb harddrive.
AmyJ
A Duplicate does not have a catalog file. The Duplicate process only copies files from one location to another. The end result is that files are visible and usable via Windows Explorer. In order to retrieve the files, you can either copy them manually from the Maxtor drive to the location you want on the C: or you can use Immediate Duplicate to selectively copy the files. See TechNote 503 for more information on Duplicate vs. Backup.
